Welcome to UR NAVIER home page
Navier is a joint research unit between the Ecole des Ponts-ParisTech, Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées and CNRS. Navier gathers about fifty permanent scientists and general skills in the mechanics and physics of materials and structures, in geotechnics, and their applications to in particular civil engineering and petroleum geophysics.
The research relates to energy issues, through studies devoted to nuclear waste disposal and petroleum engineering; to environmental issues, through studies devoted to the eco-design of structures and building materials, to sustainability issues, through studies devoted to the long-term behaviour of materials and their engineering.
In the quest of the mechanical and physical laws relative to these issues, the approaches are both theoretical and experimental. They are worked out using large facilities, whose certain are unique as the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging or the Annular Simple Shear Apparatus.
