Curriculum

* Graduated in 1983 at Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat * PhD thesis defended in 1990 in applied mechanics * French habilitation HDR to supervise PhD theses in 2004.

Research interests

My main research topics include :

modeling and identification of linear and non linear mechanical structures under vibration, modeling of damping effects in structures and material, processing of signals and systems (time-frequency transforms, filtering), wave propagation ; Modeling of damage in glued structural connections. Its applications are numerous and various, for example : civil engineering structures (buildings under earthquakes, bridges under traffic), behavior of thin beams (non linear normal modes), modeling of pedestrians crossing pedestrian bridges, optical fiber sensor placement optimization, car and truck modeling (weigh-in-motion of trucks ; analysis of the rupture of a car brake stirrup), impact-echo method, analysis of XAFS spectra (extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopic information) and atomic force microscopy.

Recent research interests are :

* Inverse problems in civil engineering * Model parameters’ identification * Identification of mechanical characteristics of the airfield pavement layers * Identification of the behaviour of magneto-rheological dampers * Long-gage fiber optic extensometers for dynamic structural monitoring * Vibrations and damping of footbridges * Contact problems in the use of a sharp probe for atomic force microscopy

Teaching around 110 hours/year among

* Mathematics for the engineer * Introduction to PDE * Vibrations – Dynamics of structures * Signal Processing - Fourier analysis * Acoustics * Solid and fluid mechanics * Inverse problems * Control of vibrations, damping, isolation of structures

* Supervision of more than 15 PhD theses. * Supervision of more than 50 students (30 master students)
